Hello world.  Today I woke up 30 minutes later than I wanted to.  So I didn't take a shower :)  Instead I went to breakfast and then to class which was terrible.  I wanted to fall asleep the whole time and it was so drawn out and boring and my teacher kept asking us questions and we were all just staring at him...ugh.  But we did end up getting our papers back for that class and I got a B/B+!!  Yay!  That was a relief seeing as I was super stressed about that paper.  Then I went back to my room and decided to take a quick nap before going to lunch.  After lunch, I headed to German which was more exciting than cinema for many reasons such as that teacher is a lot cooler.  We talked about our test on Thursday and we also learned some new thing.  After that, I went back to my dorm to print something off and then I headed to rhetoric.  We had a library day in rhetoric today.  When we got to class, she handed us our papers and I got an A-!  I was super happy about that because I wasn't sure if it was okay or not.  Then we walked over to the library and she let us loose to go research for our next paper. We were supposed to be having one-on-one meetings with her that she scheduled throughout the class but it got super backed up so I didn't get to have mine.  Instead, I just talked to a few people in my class.
After that, I went back to my room and waited for Maritza to come home and we did laundry.  I did my German homework while my laundry was being did.  Then we went back upstairs and headed out to town.  First we went to an art store, then we went to Ragstock.  We had a literary Halloween party tonight and Maritza either wanted to go as The Raven or Holden Caulfield.  At Blick we looked for black feathers but they didn't have any so the guy directed us to Ragstock so we could look for a red hunting hat but we couldn't find one.  While we were walking around, Maritza ran into a raven Venetian mask and we found a headband with feathers so she bought that and went back to being The Raven.
Last night, Elle came in our room and we brainstormed ideas for costumes.  I decided to be The Book Thief because I had black clothes and books.  So after our trip into town, we got dressed.  Then we went to the party where there was pizza from a legit pizza place down town.  There was a scary story napkin contest that had to be turned in on Monday but I didn't do it but the winners were announced and they read their stories and then they got prizes.  Then we did a costume contest and Ernest Hemingway won.  Then we went back to our room and we took pictures together as seen above.  We were also dying of laughter the whole time for various reasons, one of which is because Maritza's beak poked me in the face when I ran over to her haha.  Then I put my laundry away and we just sat around chilling...yay!  Now I want to go to bed but of course I'm wide awake hahaha...boo.

Whenever it seems like I will not have a picture for my day, someone always makes sure I do!!!  My picture did not come until about 8 tonight!  I'll tell the story in a second.
First, I woke up at 9 and was super tired so I took a shower.  Then I studied for a little bit and decided to go lay back down in bed because I was still tired.  I ended up falling asleep and then waking up early enough to go to lunch.  The dining hall was crazay today because of college visits and such.  People were seriously going crazy trying to put their trays on the conveyor belt thing.  A guy was going down the line taking the silver ware off and people were tracking to stack trays on top of each other....it was insane!  Then I went to German and then stars and galaxies where we talked about the universe and we started talking about life somewhere else in the universe.  At one point, my professor was talking about how if there was other life, they might be smarter than us and just hiding from us so we wouldn't be able to find them.  He followed that statement (which sounded more scholarly than that) up with this quote (which isn't exact) "if I was an alien, I wouldn't want humans all up in my galactic universe" hahaha we all laughed...it was great.
Then I went back to my room and did my German homework before setting out for my writing commons class.  We did three writing prompt things today in class which took up a whole lot of our time.  When that was done, we talked about the readings we had and then we only had time to talk about one of the workshops we did over the weekend before it was time to go.  When I got back to my room, I waited for Maritza to get done showering and we went to dinner.
While in dinner, Kelley asked me if we checked our mail lately so we did that after dinner and I had a package slip!!!!!!  I went to the front desk and got my package.  Here is me holding it:

So cute!!!!!!  There were a bunch of little confettis of vampires and mummies and Frankensteins and cats that were floating around and in everything.  She sent me a card, cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, Monster House, snickers, a tiny notebook, and cute sticky decoration things.  I hung up the decorations on our mirror and sprinkled some confetti on my dresser and ate a few cookies :).  It was all pretty great.  Then I decided to work on some homework....and now I'm writing this!  Yay!  It was a great end to my day!

I did nothing today...that's all......
No really.  Since I was up into the wee hours of the morning watching HPot, I was surprised when I woke up at 8:30 and wasn't tired.  Maritza had a competition thing for rowing all day so I was by myself.  I went to breakfast, and then I took a shower.  After my shower, I decided to do my German homework.  Little did I know that it would take me forever.  I started at 11ish and then went to lunch around 1ish and didn't really finish until 3ish I would say.  It really sucked :( boo.  Then I started on my writing commons homework which was boring.  I was debating on whether or not to take a nap when Maritza came back.  Once I finished my writing commons homework, I printed it off and then we both laid down to take a nap but I just kind of chilled in my bed doing nothing because I couldn't fall asleep.  Then when I "woke up" I decided to eat dinner.  I spent the rest of the day doing other homework and talking with Maritza and not leaving my room.....it was quite a boring day.
At one point during the day, I decided to open my window and that's when I saw the rowing people go down the river!  The boats are kind of hard to see in this picture but if you look hard enough, you'll see two of them!  So I took a picture...because that was the only excitement that happened to me today.  The end.

Today I did nothing...Yay!  I slept in for a while and then Maritza and I went to lunch.  I had plans of going to the library but my computer was dying and sometimes it's hard to find an outlet at the library so I waited until my computer was charged.  In the mean time, I decided to read two essays that I had for homework but they were super boring so I ended up falling asleep instead.  When I woke up, I decided I needed to get out of bed and do something with my life so I packed up my stuff and went to the library.  While I was there, I started to look through the homework I had and I realized it all required more effort than I felt like giving so instead I worked on an essay that's not due for a while and by the time I was done with that, I went back to my room so that we could head over to dinner.  After dinner, I decided to watch a movie but Maritza wanted to study and do homework so I had to watch a movie by myself :(  I decided to watch Harry Potter 1&2 because I hadn't seen the second one in a while and it was great but they ended up taking until about 2 in the morning to finish haha.  While I was watching the movies, Elle came in our room to show off her outfit. She went as Clark Kent and looked adorable!  So I took a picture of her since she's the coolest thing that happened to me today haha.

I did not feel like waking up this morning because I'm sick...boo.  But I had to get up at 9 because the people start cleaning our bathrooms at 9:45 and they don't stop until 11:20ish...so I had to get up to take a shower.  After my shower, I started to get a migraine which sucks so I climbed back in bed and fell asleep for an hour haha.  I decided to wear Justin's shirt today which he gave me when I visited so I took a picture of that.  After I woke up from my nap, Maritza and I went to lunch.  After lunch, I went to German and then stars and galaxies where I learned I may or may not have gotten an A on the test depending on the curve!  That makes me excited.  It turns out me and my stars and galaxies friend go the same grade which is a strange coincidence haha.  After stars and galaxies, I went back to my room and realized I still had zero homework that needed to be done so I laid in bed and did nothing.  Maritza went to practice and I think I fell asleep again.  When she got back, we went to dinner where there were amazing rolls that I was obsessed with.  In the dining hall's lounge place, I saw a lot of people dressed up for Halloween...some outfits were nice but most weren't.  After dinner, I did the same thing as before dinner and then we decided to watch Inception.  That was the second time I watched the movie and it made a lot more sense this time around.  Afterwards, we went to bed.  Yay!

Today was Thursday which is my least favorite day of the week class-wise.  I had breakfast and then cinema which was funny because my TA showed a clip from a movie to represent continuity editing of something and then a girl gave a presentation on the guy that produced that movie and she showed the same clip hahaha.  It was pretty great.  Then I went back to my room and chilled before going to lunch and German.  Then I had rhetoric and we got out 15 minutes early which would have been exciting except I have a class at 3:30 right next door and I got out at 3 instead of 3:15 so I had nothing to do for a half hour.  The viewing we had for our cinema class was Unforgiven which was fine except too drawn out.  I found myself zoning out because the conversations were boring and took forever to get to the point.  When I got back to my room, I waited for Maritza to get back from practice and then we went to dinner.  After dinner, she showed me her gear for rowing that she picked up today.  She was like Mary Poppins taking all the clothes out of her bag.  The bag was small...as seen in the POD but the clothes just kept coming.  This picture doesn't accurately show how much clothes she actually got but it was a whole lot...and it was all black.
After she took a shower and I did nothing because I had zero homework that was urgent, we decided we wanted to watch Fight Club which she had on her computer.  It turned out that the movie wouldn't work so instead we decided to watch Good Luck Chuck which has Dane Cook so it was funny but inappropriate.  When that was over, we went to bed.

So disregard my last message...for some reason, the screenshot I took for my POD would not upload so instead I took a picture of the picture and uploaded that haha.  So I woke up at 8 today to study for a few more hours before my test.  Maritza and I got lunch and then I went to German where I took a quiz and then I went to stars and galaxies to take my test.  It was okay.  I felt better than last time I guess and I also took longer to finish this test.  After that, I went back to my room and decided to take a nap.  I woke up at 6:45ish and I thought it was the morning and I had a fake conversation with Maritza in my head about me being late to class or something, but then I realized it was still the same day.  Maritza came back soon and we went to dinner together.  I felt super nauseous and dinner and I was still out of it from my nap.  When we got back to our room, I decided to start the homework I should have been doing.  While I was doing my homework, Maritza read this e-mail that she received.  She went home this weekend and took a bus there and the bus was supposed to stop at two malls and her destination was the second mall.  Apparently the bus driver got lost on the way to the first mall and a lot of people got mad and such and the bus company e-mailed Maritza about it and it cracks me up.  I'll read it to you since it's kind of hard to read from this picture.  The yellow boxes are the important parts of the e-mail that are funny"
Box 1: "Last Friday, your bus was provided by Scenic Stages, of IL.  Ted, the driver, missed the exit and then made matters much, much worse by getting on [a road].  Had Ted called our dispatcher, which is what he was supposed to do if he got in a pinch, we would have had him turn around at [another road], and he would have been to [the mall] in a Jiffy."
Box 2: "If you'd like to complain to the people who directly supervise Ted, the lost driver, please give Scenic a call at...We're sure they will benefit from hearing your opinion of a bus driver who can't find his way to a giant suburban mall that's right off the highway."
Box 3: "We guarantee you will never have to ride with Ted again, because we have banned him."  
I don't know if it's just me but I think they're being a little harsh.............
We had a good laugh about this e-mail and then I decided to start my reading at 11:30 and I realized I had to read almost 100 pages hahaha...oops.  I wasn't tired though since I took a nap so I was up for a while before I went to bed.

The last thing I felt like doing today was waking up to go to my cinema class.  But I went.  And it was okay because we just talked about the movie the whole time and then a guy gave a presentation.  We watched a few movie clips and then we were able to go.  It suddenly got hot again in Iowa City and also extremely humid.  After lunch and German, I came back to our room and Maritza had turned the air on and it felt so magical.  Our heat has been turned on since it was cold a few weeks ago and our heat is super hot and our room was like a bubble of hotness and it was miserable.  So the air felt amazing.  I had rhetoric and then I went back to my room to settle in for the night studying my head off for my stars and galaxies test.  My class got out at 3:15 and I only left my studying spot on the floor to eat dinner and for the few minutes a girl down the hall asked us about Lady M.  While studying, I came across the paragraph that I took a picture of.  I whited out the surrounding sentences so it's easier to read which is why it looks like there is a big white space between the picture and my post.....anyway.  The paragraph made me laugh because it was way too deep for a science textbook.  Hahaha I read it out loud to Maritza and we both think the author is cray.  I also interjected my study time by texting Carlee!!  It was great.  I ended up going to bed at 2 because I didn't feel like studying anymore.

Today was not that exciting.  It actually kind of sucked because it was Monday :(  But Mondays aren't that bad.  I decided I wanted to wake up early to get some studying hours in for my stars and galaxies test on Wednesday but I ended up turning off my alarm and just sleeping.  Maritza and I went to lunch and then I had German and stars and galaxies where we learned that gravity actually doesn't exist or something...and that time moves slower for people traveling at the speed of light or something...hahaha the concept was really hard to grasp but it basically blew everybody's mind.
I went back to my room and decided to do my German homework before I had to go to my writing commons class.  I did not feel like going to my class since I felt like I should be spending the 1 hour and 40 minutes studying for my test but I stuck it out.  I was not hungry for dinner and Maritza was not feeling well so we just decided to not go to dinner.  I met up with Sara for a few seconds to give her her nanner muffins and then I headed to the library to spend my night.  I spent time finishing my German homework and doing cinema homework when what I really wanted to do was study for my test.  I didn't get to studying until a few hours later and I took this picture of the beautiful stuff I was learning.  Eventually, I got really hungry so I went back to my room and ate soup and stayed up for a few more hours studying on my floor.  And then I went to bed.

Today was pretty wonderful.  For starters, it was the most beautiful day in the history of ever.  When we woke up, Kelley decided to make banana nut muffins which were wonderful!!  Here is a picture of her being a mommy:

Aww...if you ever want banana nut muffins, go to Kelley's apartmento.  After we showered and got dressed and stuff like that, we headed out for our pumpkin patch adventure!  Mom and Dad wanted to go to lunch so they called Kelley to go to the pumpkin patch which they said was supposed to be really good and it happened to be the same pumpkin patch that Kelley really wanted to visit so we decided we would go there for lunch!
We picked Katie up because she was in town and then we drove over to the pumpkin patch!  It was seriously the cutest place in the world.  It had a Wizard of Oz theme which was cute.  The little cafe was called The Flying Monkeys and the food was super good.  Here is the whole group waiting in line to eat:

We got to watch them make donuts which were also really good.  After we ate, we walked around the gift shop, then we went outside and I found baby pumpkins which was my goal of the day.  I really wanted little pumpkins to put in my room so I bought three of them.  Here I am cleaning my pumpkins off because they were dirtay:

If I look super happy it's because I was.  Then we walked around before we found where to find the corn maze!  I like corn mazes that are legit mazes so I was really excited.  Mom and Dad decided to leave to go back home before we went into the maze so we said goodbye to them and bought our tokens for the maze!:

The guy at the entrance handed us little green cards to mark at different areas and if we got the whole card filled out, we got a choice to do one other thing without having to get tokens!!  Spoiler alert:  we filled out the whole card.
The corn towards the edge of the maze was super short and we were taller than it so it wasn't that difficult of the maze...especially since the exit was the same as the entrance.  Here's us walking in the maze:

The marker stations were a post of wood with a hole drilled in it and a highligher/white board marker sticking out of the hole...we had to mark our cards like so:

There was also a tower in the middle of the maze which was pretty much cheating because you could go up there and then see where the people were clumped where they were marking their cards.  We took a picture at the top of the tower and then we explored the rest of the maze before finding the last post.  Here is our finished card:

As you can see, some of the markers worked and some didn't.  We decided to use our free token on the hayride after much consideration between that and the giant blow up slide.  The tractor ride was nice...it just kind of rode out to the pumpkin patch and then it turned around and went back the same way.  There were a lot of cute kids there.  After that, we took a picture on the yellow brick road and then in the giant chair which is my POD and then we left.  We dropped Katie off and then we went back to Kelley's apartment.  Sara and I got our stuff together and then we were on our way back to Iowa.  I did some homework in the car and then soon I was back in my room.  Maritza arrived a few hours later.  I finally started studying for my test and we talked about our weekends and then we went to bed!

Today I was woken by my parents walking threw Kelley's front door!  That was at about 8:30ish.  Mom surprised us by bringing a bunch of food with her.  We both got a huge bag full of snack foods and then a Halloween basket full of candy!  Even though it's extremely dangerous, YAY!  Kelley and Justin got ready and then they left for Kelley's award thing.  She won a scholarship so they had a banquet for her and she had to give a thank you speech.  Mom and Dad went.  After they left, I fell back asleep and then I decided to eat breakfast.  I took a shower and then deflated my bed!  I don't really know what happened after that but eventually Mom, Dad, Kelley, and Justin came back.  Justin, Sara, Mom, Dad, and I decided to go to the mall to let Kelley work on some of her homework.  We walked around for a little bit and then we decided to go to Goodwill.  The Goodwill wasn't that great but I did end up finding Kelley a book she needed!  When we got back to the apartment, we decided to go to dinner in town.  I took a picture of all of us clinking out drinks together and looking cool.  I got a BBQ chicken sandwich thing which is Kelley's favorite and it ended up being 100x spicier than normal and we were both crying and dying from eating our sandwiches.  Dad also made a special request for us to eat fried pickles even though the restaurant doesn't serve them, but we got some anyway, and they were pretty great.  Then we went back to the apartment and Mom and Dad went back to the hotel.  Kelley and Justin had to get ready for Justin's semi-formal.  Here's Kelley lookin all fine and stuff:

When they left, I had the apartment to myself and I spent most of the time doing German homework and not studying for my test on Wednesday.  Eventually they came back and they all passed out so I went to bed too.

Today was a great relaxing day!!  I slept on an air mattress in Kelley's living room which took up the whole living room haha.  I woke up at 9:30ish and Kelley had already left for class.  Justin was up so me and Sara ate breakfast.  I just kind of laid around all afternoon before I decided to take a shower.  So I took a shower and deflated my bed and then Sara and I decided to watch a movie on Netflix.  We watched The Sweetest Thing which I had never heard of before but it was pretty great.  It was super '90s even though it was made in 2002 and Jason Bateman is in it and he looks exactly the same.  After that, we just chilled until Kelley and Justin came home.  Kelley did stop home at one point and she made a bagel but it burnt real bad so I took a picture of her looking sad.  When Kelley and Justin were home fer sure we went to a book store in Urbana. It was really nice and packed full of books...three whole floors!!  Then we came back to the room and Kelley and Justin made dinner.  It was super good!!!  And I was super full when I was done eating.  Then we went on a search for a concert Kelley had to go to for a class.  She was told the concert was in one building but it wasn't in that building so we went to a different building and they said it was in some other building, but by that time we were tired of running around looking for the concert so we decided to just not go.  Instead, we went back to their apartment and they had some friends over.  Kelley fell asleep and then eventually we all went to bed.  It was great!

I woke up today super not excited to go to class but that's normal on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  It was a still a great day despite the fact it was Thursday because I got to look forward to going to Champaign!!!  I took a shower and went to get breakfast and when I went to sit down to eat, I saw Maritza sitting at a table!!  It was fate haha. After that, I went back to my room and then headed to class.  There were supposed to be three presentations today but only me and another guy showed up so instead there were two presentations which means we got out 15 minutes early!!!  Yay!  My presentation went well and I'm glad it's over with finally.  After that, I studied a little bit for my German quiz and then I went to lunch where I did not run into Maritza.  I had German and then I had my German quiz and then I had to go to rhetoric.  After rhetoric, I had the viewing for my cinema class and we watched Point Break.  It was probably the first movie we watched that wasn't completely strange.  And it had famous actors so the two hours weren't that bad.  When that was done, I ate dinner and then I LEFT!!!!!!  It was so exciting.  It was rainy and cold in Iowa City and then we got in the car and drove!!  I-pods have recently updated their GPS systems to be AWESOME!  It pretty much acts like a real GPS...its talks and shows you the road and where to turn off and everything!  The gas gauge thing in the car was broken so it said we had a full tank of gas for the whole ride down hahaha.  It was really rainy and dark but we made good time!  It was only 3 and a half hours!
Once we got done, we got lost trying to find Kelley's and Justin's apartment but eventually we found it.  We parked at a Meijer and then we went back to their apartment and pretty much just fell asleep!  It was so great!

Hello Friends!!  Today was pretty great for a few reasons:

1. Wednesdays are always pretty great since I only have two classes

2. Sara and I are leaving for Champaign tomorrow!!!!

3. I saw a play tonight

So it took me a long time to fall asleep last night which made me angry but it was alright I guess.  I wanted to get breakfast since I won't be here this weekend and I'll have a lot of extra meal swipes but I turned off my alarm clock three times so I didn't wake up early enough to get breakfast.  I took a shower and then got lunch and then I went to German.  After that, I had stars and galaxies.  I decided to go to the library to study for my stars and galaxies exam next week and on my way there, it started raining, but I didn't feel like getting my umbrella.  I ended up spending most of my time doing my German homework which took about two hours.  When I finally started studying, Maritza texted me and asked if I wanted to get dinner.  So we got dinner.  By the time I walked to the dining hall, I was pretty soaked...especially my pants.

We went back to our room and neither of us felt like doing any homework so I curled up in my bed and she went on Tumblr.  At 7:30, we decided to head over to the play.  She invited one of her friends to come with us and we didn't tell him until we were almost there that it was a Shakespeare play and he was pretty upset haha.  We saw Lady M which was an adaptation of Macbeth.  I didn't know until we walked in that it was in a black box theater type of place.  I took this picture before the play started.  She was laying on the ground for a long time.  Even though the play was in Shakespearean lingo, it wasn't too hard to follow because:

1. I've read Macbeth

2. The acting made it easier to understand what was going on

3. I don't know why I'm making so many lists today

I was getting pretty tired throughout the play but I stayed awake.  There was a lot of blood and shouting and weird stuff happening.  It had a different ending than Macbeth which was pretty interesting!!  When it was done, we walked back to our room.  I realized that I had to study for my German quiz but I kind of failed at that and so I just went to bed instead.

I got lunch this morning and ran into Elle in the dining hall so we ate together!  Yay!  After that, I went to class and got my midterm back in cinema, and I surprised myself hahaha.  That was a miracle.  If all the numbers are confusing, it is because my teacher does things weird.  But that started my day off well.
After that, I got lunch and then I had German and rhetoric where I had to present a success story to the class so I presented Shay.  After that, I had a verbal quiz in German so I had to go to my teacher's office.  Here was our conversation when it was done:
Her: "I'm giving you a 19 1/2"
Me: "Yay!...wait...what is it out of?"
Her: "20"
Me: "Yay!!!"
Then I went back to my room and realized that I had no immediate homework to work on...it was such a strange feeling. I decided to read a chapter in the book we're reading for rhetoric and then I fell asleep but was awoken by the sound of someone bouncing a basketball the floor above me...or at least I think that's what it was...grr.
Then I did my German homework and tried to study for stars and galaxies but I gave up and just went on pinterest.  Maritza and I went to dinner together and then we didn't really do anything until it was time to go to bed!

I realize this picture is really lame but I couldn't take a picture of anything else.  Today was pretty great.  I woke up at 8:30ish to study for my German test that I didn't study for last night.  Normally when we take German tests, we get out super early but I have a class in the same vicinity right after that so I just hang around until it's time to walk over to my other class.  Today I decided to bring my laptop with so that I could work on my essay in between my test and my stars and galaxies class.  The German test ended up taking the whole class period though so I didn't have time to work on my essay.  Having my laptop allowed me to take notes on my computer for stars and galaxies which was super handy!  After that, I went back to my room and decided to just print off my essay so that's what I did!  Then I worked on some homework and I went to eat dinner.  The dining hall closes every day between 3-4:30 or something and I had a class at 5 that was supposed to get out at 6:40 and then I had to meet for my field trip at 7 so I decided to eat before my 5 o'clock class which was a hassle since I had to wait until 4:30 to eat!  But I made it to my class on time.  The best part was that the class got out at 5:30!  It was amazing.  It was an hour and 10 minutes shorter than normal hahaha.  So I would have had time to eat dinner afterwards but I had already eaten so it didn't matter.   So I went back to my room and worked on more homework.
At 6:50ish I decided to head for my class where we needed to meet for our field trip.  We met in our classroom and then we got on a school bus and drove to an observatory that wasn't that far away but it was far enough that we were in the middle of nowhere.  At first it was really cloudy and we couldn't really see anything and then the sky started clearing around 9.  We looked through a few telescopes and I didn't know what we were supposed to be looking at for some of them but I saw cool things in two of them!  When the sky started clearing at 9, a guy was pointing out constellations and where certain stars and galaxies were and such.  The people there had legit laser pointers that they used to point at stars and they were really amazing.  They said they couldn't point them at airplanes because they could get arrested for it!!!!  That's crazyyy. I also saw two shooting stars!  Yay! I wanted to take a picture of the stars but I couldn't do that since it was too dark and such, so instead I took a picture of one of the buildings that had a red glow coming from it.  All the lights at the place were really dim and red and I felt like I was walking into a haunted house the whole time.  Before we left, we saw Jupiter in the sky and then we took the bus back.  I had to read a really long article for cinema and then I went to bed!

Today was not as productive as I planned...yay!  I woke up at 8:30 and then fell back asleep and re-woke up at 10!  It was raining again today which meant that nobody felt like doing anything with their lives.  When Maritza came back from church, we went to lunch and then we both intended on doing homework but we both ended up falling asleep instead hahaha.  We decided to do laundry since our room smelled from our wet clothes from yesterday.  So we did laundry and we both did homework in the laundry room and I realized that I was way more productive down there than I am in my room.  I also washed my bedding!  Yay!  After that, we did more homework and then we went to a pillowcase decorating party for dance marathon.  We were there with our morale captain assistant and we did two pillowcases.  One I worked on with our assistant and the other one Maritza did all by herself.  Here is the pillowcase I helped make:

She did not have time to finish hers because she is a perfectionist and had to make it perfect.  Now someone else has to finish it at the next pillowcase party!  The girl we did the pillowcase for is around 10 years old and the boy is about 4!  After the pillowcase party, we went back to our rooms and then we decided to go on a sandwich run to Subway because Maritza wanted a sandwich and I wanted food.  The guy who made us our sandwiches called us miss at least 10 times while we were there.  Then we ran back to our room and we both read and gave feedback on each others' essays.  Maritza hung out with someone downstairs and I worked on editing my essay.  We had to submit this essay to a newspaper and the place I submitted mine to had a maximum word count of 1,200 and my essay was 1,600 so I had to cut out 400 words haha...it's pretty much a different essay.  By the time I was done, I didn't feel like studying for my German test so instead I just went to bed!  Yay!

I woke up this morning to the sound of rain pattering against my window and a huge urge to not get out of bed and definitely not go outside.  But I had to get out of bed because today was my 5K!  I looked at the weather online and it said that we were in the severe zone and that we had a chance of heavy rain, hail, and tornados....yayyyy.  I pulled myself together and stalled walking over to the park until I could no longer stall.  I was pretty wet by the time I got to the check-in.  They handed us a shirt and a free box of cereal which was great.  There weren't that many people there because of the weather, but I liked it.  We started the race at 10 and I RAN THE WHOLE THING!!!  This is really exciting for me because I do not do distance.  Me and distance are not friends.  I listened to my ipod and it helped running with a bunch of other people.  For those who don't know, there's a giant hill in the middle of Iowa City and guess where that giant hill was placed in the course....right in the middle.  I felt great and then I realized I had to run up the hill...ugh.  A girl next to me stopped and commented to her friend "I can't even walk up this hill" hahaha so true.  When I got to the top, I thought I was gonna faint from not being able to  breathe but it was alright.  I just ran super slow for a little bit so that I could catch my breath.  I wore a sweatshirt since it was 55 degrees out but I got hot while running and my sweatshirt turned into a sponge and it weighed so much!  My face was drenched.  Droplets were falling off of my eyelashes and at one point my hair stuck to my face.  My feet were also soaked which helped me in not noticing my feet problems!  I think the weather is the reason I was able to run the whole thing since it wasn't hot and I was more concerned about the wetness than I was about running.  By the end of the race, I was just running through puddles because I just didn't care any more about getting wet hahaha.  I ended up getting 28:55 which is alright with me!  I'm just happy I ran the whole thing!
After the race, I grabbed a water, banana, and bagel from the pavilion we met at and then I walked home.  I was so cold and drenched when I got back!  Maritza took this picture of me haha.  Our room has smelled like wet clothes the whole day because we were both drenched this morning.
I took a shower and then had lunch and then I decided to go to the library and work on homework.  When I got back to my room, I was going to take a nap but then Elle popped in our doorway and we ended up talking with her and then we went to dinner together.  Maritza and I got dressed up to go see a play but when we got there, they only had one ticket left so we bought tickets to see the play on Wednesday and then we went and saw a movie at the IMU.  It was Seeking a Friend for the End of the World which was kind of strange but it was good.  Maritza really liked it.  Then we went back to our room and I did German homework and now I'm going to bed because I'm tired.

Happy Friday!!!  Today I slept past my alarm and got up at 9 and it was great!!!  I took a shower and then chilled in my room, convincing myself that I couldn't work on my essay because there wasn't enough time before I had to leave for class hahaha.  Maritza and I got lunch and then we just chilled in our room.  I went to German where we spent the whole time preparing for our test on Monday.  After that, I had stars and galaxies which was pretty great today just because the class went really fast but it always goes really fast so that was nothing new.  After class, I decided to go to the library to start working on my essay and when I got to the library I remembered that today was the first day that I could do early voting at the library!!  The voting people were set up right inside and it was so easy to just go there and vote so I did that before I got to work!  It was great!  I get this awesome thing after I turned my ballot in.  It's not a sticker...it's a piece of metal...I think I'm supposed to bend the top over and hook it on to something but I don't really understand haha.  I was actually super productive in the library which was great.  I went to the room at 6:30 and then Maritza called me while she was outside because she forgot her key card in the room so I had to let her in haha.  Then we had to run to dinner because the dining hall closes at 7.  We were going to go to this reading by this guy tonight but we thought it was at 8 but it was actually at 7:30 and by the time we got back to our room, it was already 7:30 so we decided not to go.  Instead, we watched Easy A which I have only seen once before in theaters and it was still great the second time hahaha I love Emma Stone.  Now I'm going to bed because tomorrow's the 5K!  Oh boy!  I hope it doesn't rain!

This is not the most exciting thing that happened to me today, but I didn't take a picture of anything else.  So I ended up waking up at 7:45 this morning because I had a dream of a giant wasp flying towards my face so I jerked awake and couldn't go back to sleep for the last 15 minutes I had so I just laid in bed.  I took a shower and got breakfast and then I went to my cinema class which hardly anybody showed up to today!  It was actually not a bad class today because all we did was watch video clips from different movies, and then a few people gave presentations.  I also turned in my paper today and it felt great.  After that, I had lunch which had these amazing club wrap things that I'm officially in love with.  I had German and then I went back to my room.  The weather got extremely nice in the middle of the day so I changed my clothes before going to rhetoric.  In rhetoric, after we did our beginning stuff, my teacher was all, "so you all saw my message on ICON that says you're supposed to read that article..." (the message she posted is my POD).  Me and a few other people in the class were all "UMMMM....WHAT?!" and then the rest of the class knew what she was talking about.  Apparently we had to read this really confusing article for homework but I didn't see it so that was awkward.  It was written by Virginia Woolf and luckily we listened to the article by her which she broadcasted over the radio which is the only known recording of her voice.  She sounded a lot like Mrs. Doubtfire.  So that class was boring since I didn't understand what any of the people were talking about.  After that, I went to my cinema showing which was Do the Right Thing.  I'll do you all a favor and save you two hours of your time by telling you not to watch it.  Like all the movies we watch in that class, it was really weird and too long for its own good.  It was supposed to be a movie about racial injustice or something but it was really annoying and counterproductive so I didn't get anything out of it.
When I walked out of that class, it suddenly dropped 15 degrees outside and it was freezing walking back to the dining hall without any coat!!  I ate dinner and then I got a coat and met Sara for fro-yo!!!  The fro-yo place had caramel apple as one of its flavors in honor of Halloween so I got that and brownie batter and I was pretty much in Heaven.  It was amazing!!!!!  It was super great.  I went back to my room and did some homework and did some not homework and then I went to bed!  Yay!  I did not see Maritza all day until about 7:30...it was really strange haha.

I know I look like a chipmunk in this picture...don't make fun of me.  GUESS WHAT I'M HOLDING IN MY HANDS!!!  If you say my cinema paper then you are correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!  For no apparent reason, I woke up at 7:30 this morning and then tried and failed to fall back asleep.  I officially woke up at 9 though and then I studied a little bit for my German quiz before I started writing this beautiful piece of an essay!
I went to lunch at 12ish and when I got to the dining hall, I realized I had forgotten my ID in my room so I couldn't get into the dining hall and guess what?!  I couldn't get into my room to get my ID without my ID!!!! Luckily, on my way out of the dining hall, a bunch of people were heading towards my residence hall so I just snuck (snuck is apparently not a word) in behind them and everything turned out okay.  Lunch was pretty great today and so was dinner!  After lunch, I had to go to German and take my quiz.  Sadly, the dance marathon leaders had a flash mob in the pentecrest today but I had to be in class :(  I had my stars and galaxies class after German which was just as confusing as ever and then I went back to my room and finished my paper!  I also did my German homework and then I realized I had nothing else to do!  I have another paper due Monday but I didn't feel like working on that yet so I had FREE TIME!  Maritza had practice and then when she came back, we went to dinner which I already said was really good.  After dinner, I went to the computer lab area place and revised my essay a little bit and then printed it out!  It was amazing.  I'm glad to have that out of my life if you couldn't tell.
Also, today I decided to wear a flower in my hair which you can't really see in the picture but it's on the side of my head and it's white and it was cute.  What you can see in this picture is my Obama/Biden poster above our sink!  It's so wonderful.  They handed them out when Obama came to town but I wasn't able to get one and then I saw they were handing them out at the Bon Jovi concert so I practically screamed my head off saying that I wanted one so some guy just handed his to me hahaha.....that's the story behind that.
I just spent the last hour pretending to read in my bed but it didn't really work.  Now I'm going to bed!

We had to wear our shirts today!!  The 46 represents the 46 children that get diagnosed with cancer ever school day.  It's for dance marathon!  If I look like a giant in this picture it's because Maritza's a shorty :).  My cinema class was really boring today, like always, but he pushed our paper deadline back to Friday which is good news bears!  I ate lunch in my room today since I had breakfast and then I had German and rhetoric.  It was kind of nice outside today which was a relief, but once I got out of rhetoric, it suddenly got cold and rainy.  We have spoken German quizzes next week and I signed up to have a practice today after rhetoric so I went to my teacher's office and did that.  It was super awkward but she said I did fine even though I'm pretty sure I mumbled through every thing I said and I was speaking in half German and half English hahaha.  After that, I went back to my room and finished my paper.  I went to the lounge with 50% of my laptop battery left and I told myself that I couldn't bring my charger and I needed to finish my paper before I ran out of battery, and I did......Then I had a meeting with a guy in the writing center which was reassuring because he didn't really understand what the main point of the prompt was either so we spent the whole time coming up with ideas of what I could talk about.  After I got home and relooked at my prompt, I realized I have to rewrite my whole essay.....yay.
When I got back to my room, ELLE was modeling her new clothes to Maritza and I was able to catch two of her outfits.  She didn't want me to take a picture of her though because it creeps her out :).  Maritza, Megan, and I headed over to a dance marathon meeting at 9 o'clock and they talked about dance marathon things.  A lot of people there had ran the Chicago Marathon over the weekend because dance marathon has team that does that, and I decided that I want to do that sometime in my life!  I better start training now!...
When we got back, I changed to go running and then ELLE knocked on our door and we all procrastinated with talking to each other and then I went running.  I ran 2.1 miles!!  .1 more than last time haha.  After that, I took a shower and worked on rewriting my essay until it was 1 and I realized I had a German quiz to study for.  Then I went to bed.

Today was kind of busy.  I woke up at 9 and since I took a shower last night, I decided to straighten my hair!!  It went pretty fast but it was kind of annoying because we don't have an outlet by the big mirror in our room and we only have an outlet by the sink (which is kind of dangerous) which is inconvenient since there is no ledge by the sink and the lights make it hard to see your reflection sometimes.  After I straightened my hair, I went to Hubbard Park where dance marathon was supposedly handing out free t-shirts.  Nobody was there so I went back to my room and chilled and then Maritza and I went to lunch.  After lunch, I decided to go check on the shirts again and I saw a table that said they were inside the IMU so I was able to get my shirt!  Yay!  I had German and then stars and galaxies.  Before stars and galaxies, I went to the bathroom and there was a dead cockroach on the ground and it made me want to vom but I got out of the stall safely.  I started going crazy in stars and galaxies and I started laughing super hard but since it was quiet I had to hold it in so I started crying hahaha.  Why was I crying you ask?  Because this came up on a slide:

Don't expect me to tell you what this means.  Pretty much the reason why I was dying was because of the diagonal arrow and the fact that this made no sense.  When the slide came on, me and my stars friend were all "WTF?" and then I lost it.

After that class, I went back to my room and tried to do my German homework but it was so long and dumb and it was way too advanced for where we are right now so I gave up and went to dinner earlier.  I had my writing commons class at 5 and it went until 6:40 and then I booked it over to Prairie Lights which is a bookstore in Iowa City.  They were having a reading with these two really famous poet guys who have won a super amount of awards.  They wrote a book together of prose poems where one person wrote a paragraph and then he would send it to the next person and that person would write the next paragraph that went off of the other paragraph.  They each took turns reading their paragraphs from an excerpt of the book.  While I was sitting in the room, I giant cicada decided to crawl for its life across the floor between my feet and under my chair.  I freaked out and picked all my stuff off the ground and the girl next to me was staring at me and she said she saw the bug but she did not care!  I spent the rest of the reading thinking something was crawling on me.  

Afterwards, I went back to my room and finished my German homework and then procrastinated on writing my essay for about an hour before I actually started writing my essay....and then I went to bed!

I'm writing my blog on time!  That must mean I'm procrastinating!!!  Yes...yes it does.  So today I woke up at 10:30 but was still super tired because I slept very lightly last night...boo.  When I finally got out of bed, I decided it was time to start my cinema paper that's due on Thursday!  I ended up writing a whole paragraph by the time Maritza showed up and took a shower and went to church and asked me to meet her for lunch which was around 1 o'clock...it took me a very long time.  After lunch, I decided to go to the lounge upstairs because our room was freezing.  The lounge is usually really cold but it has gotten warmer lately!  While I was there, I worked on my essay and my RA creeped on me through the glass and then told me that it usually takes the university a long time to turn the heat on.  Later, Maritza joined me in the lounge and then Elle came back to do homework with us!  I HOPE YOU'RE READING THIS ELLE!!!!  She brought her blanket and I brought my blanket so we took a picture together!  People played the piano while I was doing my homework and it was wonderful because they were all amazing!  Eventually the lounge started getting really cold and then Maritza left and another girl from my floor replaced her and then we all decided to break for food.  In the 4 hours I was in the lounge, I ended up only writing a page and a half but that's alright I guess.  I also signed up for an appointment to the writing center to help me with the essay which was so incredibly booked!  It was ridiculous.  The earliest and latest time I could go in to get help was on Tuesday at 7:30 pm so guess when I'm gonna go!?!  Spoiler alert: it's Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
Instead of eating, I decided to go running and I made it to two miles without stopping!  Yay!  I'm really excited because I've never ran two miles straight before!  It was great.  Then I took a shower and ate and now I'm putting off finishing my essay!  Yay!

I woke up to this picture on my phone as a text from Kelley...isn't she the cutest?!?!  I decided to go running in the fitness center that's attached to my dorm because I'm running a 5K on Saturday and I can't run three miles continuously so I should probably start working on that.  The total distance I ran/walked was 3 miles and out of that, I ran 2.5 miles but not continuously...I took a few breaks in between.  Afterwards, I took a shower!  Yay!  Maritza and I got lunch and then I went to the library.  Her parents and one of her sisters drove into town to visit her today so she was really excited about that and now we have a lot of new additions to our room!  Like a light in the creepy dark corner of our room!  I spent most of the day in the library and I got so much accomplished and it felt great!  The only things I didn't get done are the two essays I have which I should get a start on...........
I went to the library at around 2ish and then I went and got dinner at 5:30ish.  On my way back from dinner to the library, I was stopped by these two people who asked me for directions.  I wasn't able to help them though because I'm still a newbie but they were super nice about it anyway.  I stayed in the library until 8ish and then went back to my room.  Maritza and I wanted to watch The Matrix but it didn't work on her computer so instead we watched Wicker Park which was weird but good!  The movie also has the girl from Bridesmaids in it...the annoying rich one and she was also annoying in this movie!!  After that, we went to bed.

Today was pretty great I guess.  It was so freezing cold outside today, though!!  Just walking to the dining hall made me quake in my space boots :(  I'm not prepared for cold weather...IT'S ONLY OCTOBER!!!!!  Anyway, today I woke up at 9ish and then showered and went to lunch by myself because Maritza already had breakfast and she was tired.  The dining hall had super good sandwiches which made me happy.  Then I had German and I had a German quiz which I think I did alright on.  After that, I had stars and galaxies in which I realized I was terrible at paying attention to what my teacher was saying because we had a clicker question and he said we should know the answer because he just said it before the question happened...I got it wrong hahaha I couldn't remember what he had said!  But it's alright.  After that, I went back to my room and Maritza insisted on leaving for the Bon Jovi concert right when I got back even though doors didn't open until 3:30 and it was only 2:30.  I told her no to the fact that we were leaving that early and good thing because we ended up being outside forever!!!  We had to stand in line for a while because we got there around 3 and then we sat on cold bleachers since Maritza's really short and she wanted to see the stage haha.  It was nice to have the bleachers though.  At like 4:30, people were giving speeches about why we should vote for Obama and one of them was supposedly somebody famous.  I took a picture of him:

He's apparently on the TV show Raising Hope which I have never seen before, but he gave a good speech so I took a picture.  Bon Jovi did not sing until 5 and people were starting to get really impatient since it was so cold outside.  And then he only sang four songs hahaha.  They were all acoustic which made them prettier.  I sent Mom a picture and Jill a video because they reminded me of them!  Afterwards, Maritza and I could hardly walk because our feet were so frozen!  We ran back to our room and took the elevator up the hill so that we didn't have to walk...it sucked!  My feet were so white so I put on fuzzy socks and then we went to dinner where we ate with people we met at the concert kind of.  After that, we went back to our room.
We had intentions of watching The Matrix since neither of us had ever seen it before, but we decided to postpone that.  Randomly, we both got cravings for a milkshake even though it was 30 degrees outside, so we trekked it to Coldstones at 10 o'clock and got shakes haha.  When we got back, Maritza went to be and pretended to do my homework but I actually didn't so I went to bed too.
While laying in bed, I looked up the temperature and this is what it gave me:

Bleh.  When I saw it on the temperature app on my phone, it showed stars next to the temperature but I thought they were snowflakes so I freaked out haha....but no worries...it only felt like 24 degrees outside!  The end!

This picture doesn't really have to do with anything but I'll explain it later.  Today was a super wonderful day!!!!!!  I had my cinema midterm and for those of you who don't know....I'm not a fan of my cinema class.  I was super stressed out about the midterm because I had no idea what we had learned, and I imagined that the test would be over a bunch of movie terms I knew nothing about!  It ended up being okay.  The multiple choice was really odd because there were only 6 questions and 24 possible answers and 16 right answers...he said he likes for the questions to have multiple answers so that really threw me off.  I ended up getting out of class at 10:00 which was a miracle considering that that class never gets out until a few minutes after it's supposed to.  I was so relieved to have the test over with that the rest of my day was so wonderful! Since I didn't have dinner last night, I got to eat three meals today so Maritza and I went to lunch together.  She got this nasty bowl of Oreo fluff crap that she insisted was amazing because of the Oreos but I was pretty much puking just watching her eating it...eh.
Then I had to go to German where my German teacher was super nice and is letting me make up the quiz I will be missing for KELLEY even though we're technically not allowed to!  Thank you, German teacher!!!  Then I had rhetoric which was still interesting because we're still talking about education...I actually don't know where most of the class went because we didn't do that much but whatever.
Then I had my cinema viewing which was Who Killed Vincent Chin?  Which was a documentary about this manslaughter thing that happened in Detroit in the '80s.  It was pretty good I'd say.  A girl that I watched it with told me that it was probably the most normal movie we have watched all semester...true story.
After that, I went back to my room and Maritza wanted me to go get Bon Jovi tickets because he's going to be here tomorrow for the Obama campaign so I got tickets and they were free!  We had dinner and then we had a dancer meeting at the IMU with our group to get to know people but barely anybody showed up but that's okay.
On the way back, Maritza and I decided to rent a vacuum to vacuum all the gnats off our window but the vacuum we got was super filthy so we spent most of our rental time cleaning it out and cutting all the narsty dust and hair out from the bottom...it was pretty gross but satisfying at the same time hahaha.  On our way back to our room, we ran into two other girls from our hall and we ended up talking with them until 11!!  It was cray.  Then Maritza had to go to bed and I had to study for my German quiz!  It was a pretty filled day!

Happy Birthday to the best father!!!!!!  Today was Dad's birthday!  Yay!  It was also so beautiful outside!!! I had German and stars and galaxies and then I went back to my room and opened my window!  I had to spend the rest of the day studying for my cinema midterm so I thought it would be nice to have a nice breeze in the room...let me tell you how much of a mistake that was!!  A billion little gnats decided it would be a wonderful idea to flock to our window and then crawl through the screen and just chill on the screen on the inside of our room.  It took me three hours to do my German homework which is ridiculous.  There was a floor dinner tonight but Maritza ditched me and I wasn't hungry so I decided to go to the library instead.  I was getting nothing done in the library because I was bored with the article I was reading and I was also super tired and a guy was watching In Time in my line of sight so I kept getting distracted by that movie.  After getting pretty much nothing done, I decided to go back to my room where I still got nothing done.  Maritza had a meeting somewhere in town so I had the room to myself so I ate dinner and got nothing accomplished.  While studying, a guy in the floor above me spent an hour singing his heart out to random songs and being super annoying.  I was ready to go kill him when we invited our neighbors into the room to listen to him and then he stopped singing...jerk.
Maritza and I tried to solve our gnat problem since the window is right over her bed.  We thought about getting hairspray but we didn't have any so we used our lysol instead.  We sprayed our window like crazy which made the glass really gross looking but whatever.  It was really overwhelming and all of a sudden, somebody from either the floor below or the floor above started having a coughing attack and we both died of laughter because we think it was from our excessive spraying of lysol.  We were starting to get high off of the smell of lysol so we turned on the air and hooked up a fan to try to blow the scent around the room instead of just the small spot by our window.
Maritza went to bed and I stayed up studying finally and then I went to bed and our room was super cold because our air was on, a fan was blowing, and when I tried to shut the window, it wouldn't close all the way so the cold air was blowing in....it was pretty great.

Our window got fixed today!  Yay!!  The guy came and knocked on our door in between my cinema class and my German class and I was all alone in the room and it was super awkward.  He kept talking to himself while trying to fix the window and I kept trying to ignore hime...but I took this stalker picture of him anyway. He ended up having to duct tape the window because he couldn't glue it since the weather was changing or whatever.  It was a super awkward experience in my life...
The rest of my day was pretty normal after that.  I had German and rhetoric which was interesting because all we've been doing lately is talking about education and it's really interesting!  After that, I went home and took a nap because my German homework was too intimidating and then Maritza and I got dinner.  I spent the rest of my night doing homework and studying for my German quiz and cinema midterm...it was a blast.

Nothing exciting happened today.  I woke up at 9 and Maritza and I got lunch at 11 like we do every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and then I had German and stars and galaxies.  I have officially reached the point in stars and galaxies where I have no idea what is going on...Walking home from that class, there was a church that was under construction because guys were fixing the roof and outside the church, there were flags hanging up so that people wouldn't walk on the sidewalk underneath the church in fear of being hit and on the flags it said "men working above" which I thought were suitable flags for church construction hahaha.  I decided to do some homework after stars and galaxies and then I had my writing commons class which took forever.  On my way to class, I ran into Sara!!  That was super exciting!  When I got back to the room, Maritza was so excited to get dinner because it was almost 7 and we were hungry.  So we got dinner and we saw Elle but she didn't want to sit with us haha.  At one point, I got some yogurt and was super excited about it but then I tasted it and it was super sour...it was pretty gross.  So instead I got cake and it made up for it haha.
Then we went back to our room and I did homework and while I was doing homework, I complained to Maritza about how the ceiling could be 2 inches taller and then my head would fit when sitting up.  If I sit up straight, my bun pushes the ceiling tiles up so Maritza took a picture of me demonstrating this occurrence.  Now I'm doing this because I don't feel like doing my other homework.  Happy first day of October!

Happy last day of September!  Today I spent the whole day working on my project and I finished it!  That would be good news except for the fact that it's not due until the 18 and I have a billion other things that I should have been doing that are due sooner...oh well!  So I worked on my project and I'm happy with how it went.  Maritza and I had breakfast and lunch together and after we were done eating, we saw Elle, our RA, in the dining hall and so she sat down with us and we talked about stuff while she ate and then we walked back to our room.  After we got back, Maritza decided it would be a good idea to open our window so she did and then the curtains fell off.........you can see how they are currently standing in the picture above.  We called Elle because it was an emergency but she couldn't do anything about it so we screwed in some screw thing because a part of the window was about to fall off so screwing the screw was preventing that from happening and then we went to the front desk and put in a work order.  When we got there, the guy asked what we needed it for and I said our window.  We told him our curtains fell off and then he asked if there was a reason why they fell and we were like "because we tried to open them...?"  And then we walked away hahaha.  We decided to do our laundry later in the day and the lounge on the first floor was serving pizza so Maritza got me a slice for our dinner.  When we got back to our room, we did some homework and then we watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for my cinema project which was also pretty good.  I would recommend it...there's a lot of famous actors in it.  And then we went to bed.
