I realize this picture is really lame but today was kind of a lame day!  I spent pretty much the whole day doing homework.  Maritza and I had thoughts of going to the football game but that ended about 2 minutes after it started because we didn't feel like doing anything haha.  We went to breakfast and lunch and then for dinner we decided to go to the other dining hall.  We were going to go to the other dining hall for lunch but the game had just gotten over then so we didn't want it to be super crowded like the last time we were there.  On the way back, we saw the moon over the top of the capital building and it was SO HUGE!!!!  So I took a picture and that is the picture seen above.  If you find the picture boring...then you can look at the weird art thing in the bottom left hand corner instead to keep you entertained.  After dinner, we did more homework and I actually started my cinema project today because it seemed like the most fun out of the rest of my homework.  Then we watched Adaptation because my cinema project is on Charlie Kaufman who wrote Adaptation and Maritza has Netflix and it was on Netflix so we watched it!  It was pretty good/weird.  Then we went to bed.

Today was pretty unproductive but that's okay!!  I had my German class which was great because it went by really fast.  Then I had my stars and galaxies class which also went by really fast.  After that, I didn't really know what to do with myself so I decided to go to the library to be productive...that didn't work because I tried reading this article but got super bored halfway through and physically could not continue to read the article.  Instead, I did German homework and then watched YouTube videos!!!  Yay!  Maritza had rowing practice until 6:30 and we were going to eat dinner after that but then we realized that the dining hall closes at 7 on Fridays so we did not make it in time.  When I walked back from the library, I heard the marching band playing because the homecoming parade was going on.  When I got back to my room, I ate some soup and Maritza showered and ate and then we went over to the Pentacrest where there was a concert.  Last week, I got an e-mail saying that some guy and Matt and Kim were going to open for some band and I was super excited because I know one song from Matt and Kim and I really like that one song!!!  So Maritza and I went to the concert and we got there at the perfect time!  The first guy opening was just finishing as we approached the Pentacrest and then we only had to wait for few minutes before Matt and Kim came out!!  Here is a picture of them:

I didn't know most of the songs they sang but that was alright because they were super into it and they were really entertaining to watch.  Matt kept throwing confetti into the audience which was cool and then at one point they tossed a bunch of deflated balloons into the crowd and asked them to blow them up and then throw them into the air on the count of 1-2-1-2-3-4.  Then I took the POD because it looked awesome.
It was really hard to take pictures because the lights were really crazy and they kept flashing into the camera.  I did end up knowing another one of their songs but I only knew one line from the song so when it came to that one line, I really jammed out hahaha.  Before the end of the show, Kim walked out into the audience by stepping on people's hands and they had to support her so I took a picture of that:

Then they played "Daylight" as their last song and I was super happy because it was the only full song that I knew!!  After they were done, a lot of people left but Maritza and I wanted to see who else was playing and then we realized that the only people left were middle aged adults and it was probably some adult band that would be uninteresting so we went back to the dorm.  And that was the end of my day!

I got my German test back today and I got 100/100!!!  Yay!  I was really happy haha.  In my rhetoric class, we spent the whole time discussing the purpose of education and intelligence and it was really boring but the time actually went pretty fast.  When that discussion was over, we got this worksheet in which we had to choose 8 people out of a list of 16 that we should want to repopulate the world if there was an atomic bomb haha...I don't really know what it has to do with anything but oh well!  After that class, I had my screening for cinema.  We watched Blue Velvet today which was the weirdest movie of my life...weirder than Apocalypse Now.  It was really hard to take the movie seriously because it was so strange.  The girl next to me spent the whole time watching a movie on her i-pod hahaha she knows what's up.
After the movie, I met Maritza for dinner and they were handing out taffy apples because it's homecoming week!!  We each took one and went back to our room and then just chilled until it was time to go to bed!  Yay!

Hello friends!  Today I had my second German test!  I feel pretty great about it but I won't know until  I get the test back!  I ended up getting out of class ten minutes early because of the test and then I had my stars and galaxies class.  To start, three people showed the dance marathon video which was great and then there were mysterious balloons set up in the room.  Eventually, my teacher had this guy that hides out in this storage place the whole time we're in class come out and do an experiment with the balloons.  The first balloon was filled with helium, the second balloon was filled with hydrogen, the third balloon was filled with oxygen, and the last balloon was filled with hydrogen and oxygen.  The experimenter guy went up to each balloon with a long stick with a candle on the end and did this:

The first one just popped.  Then he went to the second one and he turned off the lights so I thought it would be a good idea to take my phone out to take a picture.  I was just randomly taking pictures, hoping to get something interesting, when all of a sudden it exploded and I ended up getting the explosion in my picture....it made me really happy hahaha I'm pretty much amazing.  The third balloon was super lame and didn't really do anything and then the last balloon was CRAZY!!!!  The guy demonstrating had to put on headphones and he told everybody in the lecture hall that they needed to cover their ears...and the lecture hall was pretty big. He also said we were going to feel a shock wave which was scaring me.  He put the candle up to the balloon and the balloon exploded and this huge heat wave passed through the room and it was so loud...it was so crazy that the chalk dust that was attached to the chalk board puffed off of the board and floated in the air....it was so ridiculous.  The point of the demonstration was to show how the sun's energy worked.  After that, we went about our class as usual and then  I went back to my room and did homework...or at least pretended to do homework.  Maritza and I got lunch and then sat in the lounge upstairs and did homework.  Now she wanted to go to bed but instead, some guy from the floor below gave her a free pizza so we're eating that instead of sleeping!  Yay!

Today was really uninteresting.  I had my cinema class and German and rhetoric and nothing exciting happened in any of those.  After rhetoric...I studied for German the rest of the night.  I have a test.  I took this picture of my online flash card categories that I studied with....that's about all.  Haha...this was really boring.

I got another cupcake today because my life is awesome :)  I don't know why, but over the weekend I was falling asleep at 1ish 2ish and waking up at 9 and feeling perfectly awake, but sadly that is not the case here...grr.  So after I woke up, I took a shower and Maritza and I went to lunch.  Before we left, I ran into my RA in the hall and she offered us cupcakes because her mom makes them.  It was beautiful and really good!  After lunch my day was pretty normal.  After my stars class, I decided to be productive and do some homework before my writing commons class....my German homework ended up taking me the whole 2 1/2 hours that I had...boo.  After writing commons, I had dinner and then I decided to go swimming!  By the time I got back to my room, Maritza was already sleeping so I decided to go to the lounge on the floor above mine to do some homework.  While I was doing that, Kyle called so that we could go over my essay that is due tomorrow.  After I printed my essay off, I went to bed!  Yay!

Today was my last day at home for the weekend :(  I went out to brunch with Mom and Dad today to a really nice restaurant in town and I took this picture of them at the table.  Brunch was awesome because that place is awesome and then I went back home.  I texted my BCF so that we could see each other.  I got to see her new apartmento which was super awesome!  I also got to pet her cat!  We walked to town and walked around for a bit before heading back to her apartment.  It was great to catch up with her!  Then I decided I should probably leave so that I could pack for my return trip.  My bag was so super full!  I decided to bring more clothes back and also a bunch of food that I got yesterday.  It was really heavy.  Mom and Dad drove me to where the bus was picking me up and then I spent the next four hours on the bus.  It went a lot slower this time than on the way home but it was alright because it was darker this time.  While I was on the bus, Kelley sent me this picture which pretty much made me pee myself:

It's alright if you hate her because I do too.  She's so lame hahaha.  Any way.  I was supposed to get back to Iowa at 9:10 but I ended up getting earlier because we didn't make one of the stops we were supposed to.  I had to carry my extremely heavy bag up a staircase to get back to my room and I thought I was about to fall over from not being able to breathe.  My legs were so tired and I was so dizzy hahaha...it was a bad decision!  When I got in my room, Maritza was happy to see me but I passed out on the floor from exhaustion of carrying my bag.  Then I unpacked everything and we talked.  I had to go print something off in the lab and then we talked some more.  I ate some soup and then Kyle called and now I'm going to study and go to bed.

Today was just as great as yesterday!  I love being home because it makes my weekend feel like a vacation instead of just another weekend.  However, the weekend seems to go by a lot slower at college than at home.  I woke up thinking I was in my bed at college and reminding myself that I couldn't sit up too fast or else I would hit the ceiling...but then I remembered I was in my bed at home!!!  Mom made chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast because she's the best and then I took a shower and eventually we went to town to go shopping!  We bought some foods to take back with us to our respective colleges.  I also got two new pairs of pants because my life is lacking pantalones.  I'm really excited about the pants!  After shopping, we headed back home and made plans to see Jill after dinner.  I worked on some homework and then we had Chinese food because I love Chinese food and then we had to cancel our plans with Jill...boo.  I spent the rest of the night doing homework and loving my house and my pup and my family!  Yay!  I don't want to go back tomorrow haha!  It wasn't a very exciting day but it was very nice and laid back!
I took this awesome picture of Kelley when she got out of the shower tonight.  She was going somewhere with Justin and so had to wet her hair and she looked like a yahoo so I decided to take this picture.  She is strongly against this being my POD but it's the only thing I took a picture of today so she has no choice!  She cray.

Today was pretty great.  When I woke up, Maritza said "You get to go home today!  Doesn't that make everything so much better!"  She was right!  I usually like Fridays because I only have two classes and I enjoy going to both of them, but today I could not wait for them to start and be over!  After I woke up, I spent my time waiting for lunch and then waiting for German to start.  I thought we had a quiz in German today but we ended up not having one and instead we spent the whole day listening and trying to understand a song about a bicycle...it was pretty great.  In my stars and galaxies class, we had another sub today but he was different than the one we had for the past two classes.  This guy looked a lot like the guy from Love Actually:

(I used this picture for Kelley) This guy's name is Kris Marshall and I told my friend in that class that our sub looked like him and she agreed and I said we should see if he says his name is Professor Marshall and/or if he has a British accent...neither of the two things happened which was a bummer.  The sub talked really fast though so we ended up getting out of class 10 minutes early because he talked through everything and ended early.  Down side was that it was impossible to take notes because he whipped through the powerpoint like it was his job (which I guess it was...)
So after that class, I got to go back to my room and then I started packing for the weekend.  All I brought home really was my pillow which took up a majority of my bag because I want to take a lot of stuff back with me.  Maritza walked with me to where the bus was picking me up which ended up being not that far from our room and then I got on the bus and was on my way!!  It was about a 4 hour ride because we got stuck in traffic.  Mom and Dad were waiting for me when I got off and it was really exciting even though it was raining out.  We stopped at Noodles because I was really hungry and then we were on our way home!  I got to see my pup which was super exciting so of course I took a picture :)  Kelley and Justin came home a few hours after me and then we stayed up talking and then went to bed!  It was such a great day and I love being home!

Nothing exciting happened today.  Thursdays are my busiest days.  My first class starts at 9:30 and my last class ends at 6.  I went to breakfast and then my cinema class which was really boring today but we got out early because two people had to give presentations and they ended early!  Yay!  Then I had lunch even though I wasn't hungry.  I decided to have three meals today since I wouldn't be here for my meal swipes on the weekend.  So I had lunch and then I sat around my room in the awkward time between lunch and German.  After German I had rhetoric which was pretty fine today and then after rhetoric I had my screening for cinema.  This week, we got to watch Apocalypse Now which was one hour too long.  They could have cut the movie down by half if they just took out random scenes of nothing happening.  It was the first movie that actually lasted the whole time slot that the screening has.  I was so tired and contemplated falling asleep during it but decided not to.  I took a picture of it for my POD because it was the only exciting thing that happened to me.  It was so long that the DVD had to be switched half way through...ugh.  After that, I went to dinner and apparently Maritza went to dinner at the same time and we were sitting at the same table at opposite ends hahahaha what is our life?!  Then I went back to the room and tried to study but it didn't really work because I didn't feel like it and then Maritza came back.  We were each supposed to go to readings at different bookstores but I was too tired to go to mine and hers ended up being yesterday...?  So we just sat in our room and then went to bed early because we're grandmas.

Today was pretty great.  I went to lunch with Maritza and then I had my German class and my stars and galaxies class.  My teacher has been absent from my stars and galaxies class but he will be back Friday which is good because everything the sub says goes over my head.  He literally spent a half hour talking about some formula and then said "and that is how you find the brightness of a star"....cool.
After that class, I went back to my room and then I had to head out to a meeting with my adviser!  The meeting was met with nothing but good news!!!  Yay!  When I first arrived, he offered me peanut butter m&ms and then we went over my classes.  He said, after my AP tests, I only need 102 hours to graduate which means I could graduate a semester early if I wanted to.  Then, he gave me this sheet of paper and told me to check off the things that he listed so I did!  After all the checking, I found out that I only have 4 more gen eds left!!!  HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!  I'm really excited though!  Also, he told me that my cinema class counts as a gen ed which makes me happy because it's my least favorite class and I thought it wasn't counting for anything but IT IS!!!  And then he told me that since I'm an Old Gold Scholar, I get to start registering for spring classes right when registration opens so I get to start registering when the seniors are registering! (Like I said: only good news)  I was really excited.  Then we went through a list of some math classes that would be fun that would count for that requirement so I might take Language and Formal Reasoning or Logic of Arithmetic!  I don't know yet.  Then I left the office feeling extremely happy.
I did some homework in my room and then Maritza came back and we went and got dinner.  While I was waiting for dinner, Sara texted me and asked if I wanted to get fro yo so I said yes!  I was extremely full from dinner but that's all right because there is always enough room for fro yo!!  After that, I went back to my room and chilled.  I called Mom and then printed off my bus ticket home for this weekend!  So excited!

I woke up at 8 today and was so tired!  I almost fell in the shower because I was tired hahaha but it's all good because I didn't!  I planned on going to breakfast at 8:40 but I didn't leave until 9:00 but it was all right because I had enough time to eat!  I had Cheerios for breakfast and a fried egg which was amazing because 1) I love Cheerios and 2) I've been missing me some fried eggs.  After breakfast, I had my cinema class which I wasn't falling asleep during!  Yay!  It has suddenly gotten cold outside which is making me sad.  I was looking forward for the weather to be getting cooler but all of sudden we went from 90 to 40 and I'm not prepared.  After my cinema class, I went to a study abroad fair and picked up brochures and pamphlets for England! Then I went back to my room and I studied for my German quiz and then I went to German.  After German was my rhetoric class and then I was done!!  Yay!  I went back to my room and ran into Maritza while she was leaving to go sit outside. I did some homework and then fell asleep and took a pretty long nap.  We just went to dinner and now I'm going to read!

Today was good.  I wanted to wake up at 6 to go swimming but that didn't happen.  I was too tired when my alarm went off so instead I went back to bed and woke up again at 9:30.  I took a shower and got dressed and some time between me getting ready and lunch, our neighbor knocked on our door and asked if we wanted cupcakes!!!!  I was so excited!  I went to lunch then I had German and stars, galaxies, and the universe.  When I got back, Maritza was there and we shared in the cupcake experience together!!  They were pretty awesome!!  I decided to start a new book and then I had my writing commons class which actually lasted the full time for the first time!  Then I had dinner.  At 9, we had a meeting for the literary magazine but it was over quickly.  I did some homework and then I decided to go to bed at a decent time except I couldn't fall asleep so the decent time was out the window by the time I actually did fall asleep!  Yay!

So I slept wonderfully last night!!  I woke up and then Maritza and I went to breakfast.  For the past week or two, we have been taking bananas from the dining hall and then eating them later but Maritza has been hoarding hers instead of eating them so I took a picture of the bananas we have built up (I ate one of them today because it was mine).  After breakfast, I chilled in my room, doing homework.  I actually finally got caught up with all my homework and I officially have none (kind of)!!!  While Maritza was at church, my RA came in my room and asked me to watch this Korean pop music video thing and then I went and talked to her in her room for a while.  After Maritza came back, we went to lunch.  We decided to go outside and chill by the river so we did.  She did homework and I read.  Then we went on the walk and swung on the swings!  Across from us, there was this family get together that had a total of five babies!!!  I wanted to kidnap all of them!  Then we went back to our room.  I did laundry tonight which took forever.  I had to take someone's clothes out of the washer because they were all full.  I felt bad but it had to be done!  Then Maritza and I ran to Subway because I was hungry and it was 9 o'clock and I hadn't eaten dinner.  The sandwich was great!  I just finished my book, hooray!  Finally!  And now I'm going to bed because I want to go swimming tomorrow morning...let's see if that happens!!

I realize I take a lot of pictures of flocks of people but they still scare/amaze me every time I see them!!  Today I woke up at 8 and Maritza was still sleeping and then I took a shower and came back and Maritza was still sleeping.  I decided to go to Iowa City's farmer's market because I had to write a rough draft of an essay about something cultural so my TA suggested I go there.  It was cool and nice to walk around but I didn't get anything.  I was only there for a little bit before I headed back to my room.  I did buy an Arnold Palmer while I was there though!  It was legit.  When I got back to my room, Maritza was still sleeping haha.  She woke up when I came in though and then we went to lunch together.  I decided to start writing my essay when we got back.  Maritza decided to take a nap.  Our room got freezing out of nowhere so I decided to go chill on the Pentacrest.  I left Maritza a note saying where I was going and then I read and wrote some of my essay on the hill.  If I was in the sun, it was super hot but in the shade it was super cold so I was unhappy haha.  There was a football game going on so I could hear people cheering and such from where I was.  I was getting really sleepy so I decided to go back to my room and get my swimming stuff to go swimming.  Maritza was still sleeping so I rewrote her a note telling I was swimming and then I left.  Swimming was great.  It was really nice and then I sat in the sauna afterwards which was also really nice.  I felt great when I was walking back to my room!  Maritza was awake when I got back and then we went to dinner.  We decided to go to the dining hall on the other side of the river which is when I took this picture.  The football game had just gotten out so I took a picture of all the people making their way back.  The dining hall was really crowded since everybody from the football game was starving.  We ended up winning, by the way!  Yay!  After dinner, we went back to our room with plans of going running later.  I finished my essay and turned it in and then I passed out and it was wonderful!

I kept waking up in the middle of the night thinking that I needed to wake up so that I could study and then I had to force myself back to sleep since my alarm wasn't set for a few more hours.  I woke up at 9 and studied the rest of my science stuff since I didn't get far enough last night.  I finally finished at 10:30 and I went to take a shower but they were being cleaned :(  I ended up waiting for about a half hour and then I finally took a shower and Maritza and I got lunch.  After lunch, I studied and then went to German.  After German was my test!  It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but it's wasn't the greatest either.  I'm just glad it's over with!!!
I went back to my room then and took a nap since I was really tired.  When I woke up, we went to dinner and then we decided to go on a walk.  On the way out, we ran into our RA sitting on a bench outside the residence hall so we talked with her for a while since she's awesome and we weren't doing anything.  We ended up going to a park and swinging on some swings.  Some kids joined us after we got there and Maritza pushed them and they were adorable!  Then we left before anybody thought we were creepers.  I took this picture of us while we were walking.  After we got back to our room, we just kind of chilled and then I hung out in the hall with my RA haha.  Maritza really wanted to go to country night at 10 so we went and played BINGO and ate popcorn.  We waited all night for the raffle which was taking forever to be called and when they did finally call it, we didn't win.  The two tickets that were drawn were consecutive numbers which made me angry.  By the time we left, it was midnight so we went to bed when we got back!

Today was kind of sad because it rained all day :(  It was also about 50 degrees outside and rainy so it was cold.  I wore my rain boots for the first time!  Yay!  After my cinema class in the morning, I walked back and got my pants/shoes all wet so I decided to wear my rain boots instead!  I took this picture on the way back from my cinema class because it was sea of umbrellas and it looked cool.  Later in the day for my cinema class, we watched Star Wars which was awesome because I was watching a famous movie...for a class.  I almost fell asleep during the end though because the fighting scene was taking way too long and I was super tired so I just shut my eyes for a little bit and then and when I woke up, the main point of the fighting scene was happening!  Yay!  After that, I met Maritza at the dining hall and then I spent the rest of my night studying for my science test!!!

I know this picture is really gross but I'm sorry.  Today was just a normal day.  I woke up at 8:30ish or something and then I did homework and went to lunch.  After lunch I had German and my science class.  We had a sub in our science class and it was so terrible because the guy was so boring and monotone and we spent 50 minutes talking about telescopes but I was not paying atteniton at all.  Luckily, my teacher felt bad for ditching us the class before our test so he gave us the two questions that are going to be on the test about telescopes so we really didn't have to listen!  After that, I went back to my room and tried to take a nap but it wasn't happening.  ICON was down which made me angry because I couldn't really do any of the homework/studying that I needed to since everything was on ICON.  So I just kind of laid around for a long time until Maritza came home and I tried to take a nap again but failed again.  We went to dinner at 5:30 and then after dinner, I headed over to the library to meet with a girl in my science class.  We wanted to study together for our test on Friday but once we sat down to do it, we realized we had no idea how to go about studying...so it was kind of a failure...boo.  We did look over some things though!  Afterwards, she walked back with me to my dorm and then she caught a bus back to her dorm and I actually studied!  Yay!  When I went to go to bed...I still couldn't fall asleep which makes me mad...grr.

Today, in honor of 9/11, the Old Capital Building put the flag at half mast so I thought it would be a nice picture for today.  I kept forgetting that today was September 11 which makes me sad.
I wanted to wake up at 8 today but I ended up waking up at 8:30 so I had to quickly shower so that Maritza and I could catch breakfast before I had to go to class.  My cinema class was terrible today because I had to forcefully keep myself awake.  I was almost falling asleep the whole time...gah.  I planned on taking a nap once I got back to my room but instead I did homework.  I had lunch in my room since I got breakfast instead today.  I had German and then my rhetoric class and then I went to one of my teacher's office hours to talk to him about an essay.  After that, I went back to my room and was gonna do homework but instead I took an amazing nap.  I legit passed out.  Maritza had to climb up onto my bed to wake me up for dinner haha.  I had a dream about my neighbor and we saw her while we were walking to dinner and when we got back to dinner, this note was on our door!:

It made us super happy hahaha.  Some additions have been made since I took this picture and it's our RA saying that she approves of the note :).  After dinner, we just kind of chilled and then at 8 we headed over to the IMU for an information meeting on KRUI which is the university's radio station.  Pretty much we're part of it now which is cool haha.  After that, we had a dance marathon meeting at 9 which was super awesome.  If it was cool to go to a meeting than I can't imagine what the actual event is going to be like!  The morale captains danced and I took this picture:

I did not realize that this was a terrible picture until I uploaded it to my computer....so this is my Stars, Galaxies, and the Universe class...my teacher did a demo today with fire so that we could see some kind of thing that was happening to the atoms or something....(I don't really know)  When he lit the fire, I wanted to take a picture because it looked cool....it looked like Olympic torches or something haha...but apparently my camera did not capture the awesomeness of the moment soooooo SORRY!  I got my German test back today and I got an A!  Yay!  Then I had this class.  I had my writing commons class at 5 and we got out 40 minutes early so I went back to my room and Maritza was sleeping.  A girl down the hall knocked on our door to see if we wanted to go to dinner so the three of us went together.  After dinner...I did homework and that was my day!

This picture is not the most exciting thing that happened to me today, but it was the only thing I took a picture of.  So this morning, Maritza and I had planned on getting up early to eat breakfast so that we can get our two meal swipes in today.  I wanted to get up at 8 but when I woke up, I was so tired and accidentally fell back asleep until 8:20 and we wanted to be to breakfast by 8:40.  We were late because I had to take a shower....oops.  We went to breakfast but for some unknown reason the dining hall was not serving continental breakfast until after 10 which did not make any sense to me so I just ate a bagel and a cinnamon roll because it looked delicious.  During breakfast, I got chai tea which is what my picture is of.  I was so excited!  It was really good and my mouth is still burnt from drinking it.  Maritza had to ditch me so she could go to church and then I made it back to my room.  I spent the time between breakfast and lunch finalizing an essay and then Maritza came back and we went to lunch.  We went at 1 but they were still serving breakfast and not that much lunch food so I ended up having my continental breakfast for lunch.  I had biscuits and gravy which was the first time since my bad experience with them...they were pretty great though but I felt pretty nauseous for a while after lunch.  On our way back from lunch, Maritza and I planned to do some homework but we ran into our RA in the hall and we ended up talking to her for about an hour or something...it was pretty crazy.  By the time we were done talking, we had another girl in our hall in our room and then we had to leave to go to a dance marathon social event.  We met at Coldstone's and it was supposed to last from 3-4 and Maritza and I were not planning on going the whole time but it was only us, our moral captain, and two other people that showed up so we ended up staying until 4:45...it was pretty cray.  After that, I went back to my room and did homework and then at 7 we had a hall get together in the boys' lounge with pizza and a movie.  I was going to eat the pizza but I still felt nauseous so I didn't and the movie was Project X which I didn't feel like watching so instead I just did my homework while sitting in the room.  After that, I did more homework (I'm noticing a reoccurring theme here) and now I decided to wash my sheets!  Yay!

Today was a lazy day.  I woke up around 10 and Maritza went to the post office.  Once she got back, we went to lunch where they were serving RUEBENS!!!  I freaking love Reubens!!  That made my day.  Today was the Iowa versus Iowa State game so everybody was going nutso.  I decided that since everybody and their brother was going to be at the game, it was a good day to go swimming!  Before I left, Mom and Dad called me and I talked to them for a little bit.  Then I went swimming!  My plan worked because there was literally nobody in the pool!  Yay!  On my way there, however, I noticed a swarm of people flocking back from the football stadium and it scared me because I didn't want to be around people.  I took a picture of part of the crowd while I was waiting to cross the street.
The football stadium is over on the other side of the river and I could hear people cheering while I was walking to the rec center which is not very close.
So I swam for an hour.  It was great.  I went to go in the sauna, thinking that it would help my cold, but when I went inside, it was not that hot and I felt like I was just sitting in a room by myself so I left.  I went back to my room and it took me forever to get back because it was so beautiful out and I just kind of mosied my way back home (side note: my computer says "mosied" isn't a word, and it recommends I use "moshed" instead hahahahaha).
When I got back to my room, I decided to go do homework out on the Pentacrest since it was such a lovely day.  I got one piece of homework done, but that was it.  Maritza texted me and asked if I wanted to go to dinner so I did.  We got there just in time because the football game had just ended and people were swarming for food.  We lost, by the way.  Maritza's friend texted her to tell her we lost and he said that State pretty much destroyed us and when she asked the score he said it was 9-6....I don't know much about football but that score doesn't seem to constitute as "destroying"..........
After dinner, we both had panic attacks about how much we needed to get done but neither of us felt like doing homework.  I decided to lay on my floor to do homework for a different perspective...it didn't really work, but I did get some stuff done.  I had Maritza edit one of my essays and she slaughtered it haha but it's better now so that's okay!
We ended up staying up until around 2 doing homework/not doing homework...:)

 Today was the greatest day of my life.  I woke up to a text from Dad and then we proceeded to have this conversation:

Hahaha I love us.  After this, I took a shower and then studied for my German test!  For those who don't know, I took four years of German in high school but didn't really learn that much, and so today was my first official German test of my life!  I felt like it went really well because I'm learning the basics all over again and I feel like I actually understand it this time!  The whole class was dedicated to the test so when we were done, we got to leave so I got out 20 minutes early!  I decided to sit on a bench in between that class and my science class since I had extra time and it was so crazy watching everybody.  The town was going crazy because Obama was here today.  There were so many people wearing Iowa and Obama shirts and they were all flocking towards the Pentacrest.
When it was time for me to go to my class, I went.  A lot of people weren't there because the doors for Obama opened at 1 and my class ran from 1:30 - 2:20 but there were still a lot of people there at the same time haha.  My day continued to get better as me and my friend in that class got all our clicker questions right!!  In the middle of my teacher's powerpoints, he has random questions that we have to answer with a clicker thing and then it gets recorded as a grade.  On Wednesday, we only got one out of four right but today we got all of them right!!!  I think there were 6!  It made me so happy haha.
After class, I headed back to my room and grabbed some things and then went to wait in line for Obama!  The line stretched very very far and it went all the way to the front of my residence hall!  But it moved quickly.  I got in line around 3ish and probably got in the main area around 3:30ish.  We had to go through security which was awkward and then I saw Megan with some people so I decided to stay with them for the thing.  Maritza had a physical to go to so she was going to meet me there later but when the time came to meet up, the crowd was too dense and she couldn't find me and she didn't want to stay if she couldn't see anything so she just left.
We were all crowded on the lawn of the Pentacrest and we weren't that far away but it was hard to see the stage because of all the heads.  If I stood on my tippy toes I could see things but I couldn't do that for very long haha.  There were singers and everything to entertain us since he wasn't supposed to speak until 5:20.  At one point, they got us all excited by having a person give a speech, reciting the pledge, and singing the national anthem.  The people who sang the national anthem was an a Capella group...the same one I watched a couple days ago and I knew a guy in the group because he was my OnIowa leader...so I took a picture of them:

This picture is more accurate at how far away I was.  Then after they got us all excited thinking it was about to start....we had to wait another 40 minutes because Obama was late to his own party and didn't start speaking until 5:40.  It also rained while we were waiting...like legit raining not just drizzling.  We weren't allowed to bring umbrellas so I just stood there in my hoodie but it was all good.
Biden came out and spoke first so here's a picture of him:

He introduced Obama and when Obama walked out and everybody started cheering I got super overwhelmed and almost started crying haha...don't make fun of me.  It was just a very awesome moment.

It was really hard to take pictures of him because people's hands would shoot into the air and then all of a sudden I was taking pictures of hands and not him.  In the beginning of his speech, every single pair of hands were in the air and it was so hard to see.
A guy had his like three year old daughter on his shoulders and this short lady that was standing by me shouted "take the girl down" hahaha it was really funny.
The speech was really great and it gave me goosies and it was also funny.  It was fun to cheer and listen to the people that got into it haha there were people yelling "that's right" every so often and the whole thing just made me really happy.
After he was done speaking, the wifeys came out and that's when I took the POD.  I actually took that picture by accident...I just kind of threw my camera up into the air and hoped for the best...and I got a pretty great picture!!!
After that, I ate dinner with Megan and then I went back to my room!  At 8 o'clock we had a meeting for the literary magazine to be readers of the submissions.  When the meeting was over, I had a skype date with Kelley that lasted until about 1 and then I went to bed!  Yay!

I woke up this morning extremely tired.  I would have given everything to be able to go back to bed but instead I had to go to my class...and then I almost fell asleep.  After that, I had lunch where I sat with a girl down the hall but then she left so I was all by my lonesome.  After lunch, I had the rest of my classes to go to.  My rhetoric class was fun today which made me happy because it's longer than my other classes so sometimes I feel like I'm there forever but today went really fast!  After that, I had my movie screening for my cinema class which was The Last Goodbye.  I don't recommend it to anyone...it wasn't that great and most of the time I was wondering where the movie was supposed to be going...there was supposed to be a surprise ending or something but I frankly did not care.  After that, I ate dinner by myself because Maritza was MIA.  The rest of the night, I studied for my first official college test tomorrow!  It's for German.  My POD is a picture of T-Pain...I know you can't see because it's really far away but I promise he's there!  Just zoom in.  So today T-Pain came to our campus and had a campus (why was it on a Thrusday?  I have no idea but I had intentions of going until I realized that it was tonight...boo)  While I was on my way to my rhetoric class, I heard him practicing or something so I took this picture since I knew I wouldn't be at the concert.  Maritza went to the concert but I had to study for my German test.  Oh well!  Now I'm going to bed.  Sick update:  I currently sound like a stripper that smokes a pack a day but it's 'ight...no stuffy nose!  Yay!

So I'm deffo getting sick....yayyyy....  Today I woke up at 9:30 and it was great...I felt great!  I had heard yesterday that Obama was coming to our campus on Friday to speak and I didn't really know much about it, BUT after I woke up and showered and stuff, Facebook told me it was free and they started handing out tickets today!!  I waited until Maritza came back and then we walked to go get tickets together!  I'm so excited!!  Before this, I texted Jill to share my excitement haha.  After I got my ticket, I ate lunch which was super awesome because there was seriously a yogurt bar where I could choose my yogurt and my toppings and I was in yogurt heaven.  And the sandwich I ate was pretty great too.  After lunch, I pretty much just sat around because I didn't have enough time to do anything important before I left for class.  I had German and science and then I was done for the day...I love college :)  And Wednesdays!  Maritza and I had dinner and then I decided to get serious with my homework!  I went to the library and was there from about 6 until about 10 and I got soooo much done....I came back and had nothing to do!  That's a lie but I have nothing urgent to do!!!  Yay!  I've spent the past two hours sifting through my e-mails because everybody is obsessed with sending me crap about different organizations that I don't want to be part of!  That's all for today!

So today wasn't that great haha.  I woke up at 6 and could not fall back asleep until 7:50 even though my alarm was set for 8.  Instead of just getting out of bed like a normal person, I slept which resulted in me oversleeping until 8:55...that was cool.  My first class was at 9:30 and I leave my room at 9:15 to get there...so I ended up taking a 6 minute shower.  Go me!  After class, I picked up a free t-shirt for being in S.T.A.T. and then I ate lunch and went back to my room.  Then I had more class from 12:30 to 3:15 and then I went back to my room again.  I'm starting to come down with a cold which is making me sad :(  I had a sore throat starting from the middle of the day today...boo.  Maritza and I ate dinner but before we left, she got a package from home.  Her sister had made her brownies and she sent them and in the letter it said to eat it with vanilla ice cream and she shared with me so I took a picture of my empty bowl of vanilla ice cream and brownie because that was the best thing that happened to me all day haha :) Then we went back to our room and went to a Dance Marathon meeting thing.  I signed up and got another free t-shirt while I was there.  I have seriously gotten so many free t-shirts since coming here...I don't know what to do with all of them because I don't have enough hangers!!!!  After the Dance Marathon meeting, we went back to our room and I took an hour nap which was the best decision of our life and now I'm not tired for bed...yay!

Happy Birthday to the best mom everrr!!!!!  In honor of Mom's birthday, I decided to eat a brownie for lunch :)  I woke up at 10:30ish and then took a shower and decided to call Mom!  We talked for a little bit and then after that, I went to lunch.  After lunch, my day became increasingly uninteresting.  I did homework for most of the rest of the day.  Maritza went outside at one point and we both heard a lot of cheering and she heard music so we decided to take a walk.  The answer to our quest was frats and sororities...they were making all the ruckus so our walk wasn't as interesting as we originally thought it would be.  We went back to our room and then eventually we went to dinner with a bunch of people.  Then we went back to our room...that was pretty much my day haha.  I did homework and walked around...not too exciting.  It was so hot out today though!  Maritza saw on her phone that there was 69% humidity outside...ugh.

I did my laundry today!!!  Yay!  I was really nervous so I had Maritza go down and help me and show me how you do it because I wasn't sure how you were supposed to pay for it and all.  Instead of my school using quarters to pay, we use our student ID which has $100 on it towards laundry.  I got it figured out!!  Iowa also has this app that is pretty much the best thing ever.  It has maps and such and it also tells you which laundry machines are available and when they're going to be done!  Yay!  It spared me from going down and checking on them over and over again.  I was going to just down there and wait until they were done but it was super hot in the room so I decided not to.  Here is Maritza doing her laundry:

After laundry, I actually got to work doing my homework.  I didn't get that much done but I feel accomplished with the amount of work I did!  I at least got some stuff crossed off my homework list.
Since today was Sunday, the dining hall closed at 2.  For dinner, Maritza and I decided to order pizzas!  In the beginning of the year, we got buy one get one free pizza coupons and so we used that and got to pizzas!  We decided to have a picnic on our floor as seen here:

And we watched Dane Cook while it was happening.  After Dane Cook, we invited girls into our room to watch a movie but they never showed up so we watched 500 Days of Summer by ourselves.  I was really excited because I had never seen it before!  It was really cute except not at the same time haha...it was actually kind of depressing but that's alright!  After watching it, it was 2:00 AM so we went to bed...yay!

My morning was super boring...actually it was more than just morning.  There was seriously a time where I caught myself just staring off into space because I had not motivation to do any homework so I thought that was a good replacement activity.  Then at 3:30 I went swimming with Megan!!  Yay!  About last week, Megan was in our room and she noticed my swimming pictures so she said we should go together some time!  And that time was today!  I was so excited to go swimming!  I was super out of shape though...and it was really hard to force myself to try to do something hard because I didn't have a coach yelling at me hahaha.  When we were done swimming, we wanted to go in the hot tub but there was a Girl Scout thing going on in the pool area where the hot tub was so we weren't allowed in there...lame.  Instead we went inside the sauna which was the first time I had ever been in a sauna!  It was crazy.  The sauna was right next to where the Girl Scouts were lined up so they were all staring at us through the glass haha.  Then we headed back to our dorms.  Maritza, Megan, and I decided to head over to the other side of the river and try the food over there because word on the street was that it was better...and I think I would agree.  The only problem I had with it was that there weren't any trays over there but that's a small problem.  It was just so much cleaner over there and their plates were all really hot instead of really wet.  And they had soft serve ice cream....which was dangerous.  Then we went back.  Maritza and I showered (not together) and then at 11 we went to see The Five-Year Engagement.  Before we left to go see it, Maritza skyped her sister and her sister said she really didn't like the movie but we both ended up liking it haha :)  It was pretty great and funny except kind of depressing at some points in the middle.  After that, we walked back to our room and went to bed!  Yay!

Happy last day of August!!  Today was a pretty good day I would say!  So I woke up at 9ish since I went to bed earlier than usual last night!  Yay!  Maritza and I had lunch and then I went to class.  I only had German and my science class and then I was done for the weekend!!!  Yay three day weekends!  After my second class, we went out for fro yo!  Yay!  I took this picture of Maritza with her fro yo.  This was in a different place than the one I went to on Wednesday and it was not very cute on the inside which made me sad :( It also didn't have cool bowls and spoons which also made me sad :(  After fro yo, we tried to ride a bus to the mall but we found out it's only free for students after 6 on Thursdays and Fridays so we decided to come back later.
We chilled in a room for a little bit and then we got dinner.  After dinner, we decided to go and catch the bus again and this time it was free!  Yay!  We went to the mall but we got there kind of late so we could only go to two stores which were Forever 21 and Target.  I bought a cute dressy from Forever 21 and I'm super excited about it!  After Target, the mall was closed so we took the bus back home.  While we were walking back to our room, there were a group of people in the hallway from our floor and the floor below and they invited us to go mini golfing in the park which was free.  When we got there, the mini golf course was super lame but they were supposed to be showing Happy Gilmore so we hung around for a little bit before we realized they were taking too long so we walked to a cupcake place instead.  I did not get a cupcake but the store was so adorable.  I'm obsessed with it!  After that, we went on a walk around and then we came back to our dorm.  We were invited to go watch a movie in the lounge downstairs but I was super tired so we decided to stay in instead.  Maritza had me watch a comedian on her computer and then we went to bed!  Yay for not being losers and staying in on Friday nights!
